Welcome to Brandermill Sailing Club

If you are new to sailing, the club offers sailing lessons at the start of each season. You do not need to own a boat to join; you are welcome to crew with one of our seasoned skippers during regattas or fun sails. Members sail both mono-hulls and catamarans, providing a variety of racing experiences.

We hold several social events throughout the year, giving members an opportunity to socialize with each other and with sailors from other clubs. Family members are welcome to join in on all of our social events. We host full moon pontoon cruises, picnics at Sunday Park, a Holiday party in December, and many other fun activities.

For more information on sailing lessons or how to become a new member navigate to the appropriate link in the main menu.

Beach Cleanup April 7; Skipper’s Meeting with Pizza follows!

Please join us on Saturday, April 7th, for coffee, donuts, and hard work as we clean up the beach for another season of sailing! It all starts at 9 AM at the Sailing Center at Sunday Park, 4602 Millridge Parkway. Bring gloves, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and a hearty sense of community service to help get the Sunday Park beach looking fine for our neighbors and friends, and to make our launch area ship shape for the coming season. It’ll be hard, dirty, fun work, and is a great way to meet the rest of the club at the start of the season. We try to wrap up by noon, and then head over to Sergio’s in Market Square for discussion of the coming season, tales of past season’s glory, pizza, and some amber beverages. We hope to see you there!

2018 Club Calendar Now Available!

The Board and other members have worked hard to put together the 2018 Sailing Club Calendar!  You can find it here on the site, and/or you can add it to your own calendar using this link (Google account required).  This year’s calendar includes:

  • 2 racing series with 8 total race days *
  • 2 Regatta days *
  • 4 Fun Sails *
  • 8 full-moon pontoon cruises (great for spouses and families)
  • 1 course of sailing lessons with 3 days of instruction
  • 2 Community Service / Work days
  • Over a dozen other social events
  • Our annual 4th of July parade entry

*You don’t have to have a boat or know how to sail to join us on race days or fun sails, as we always have captains who need crew and are willing to take newbies out with them, conditions permitting.

We’re excited just thinking about it!  We hope you’ll consider joining us for a couple of these as a guest, or all of them as a member!

See you on the lake!

Sunday Park Beach Cleanup a Success!

The beach cleanup went off without a hitch thanks to beautiful weather and a doughty crew of BSC members and exchange student volunteers. Fueled by Mrs. Yoder’s glazed donuts and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, members and volunteers filled over 20 fifty-five gallon trash bags with the trash and debris that had accumulated over the winter months, leaving the beach spotless:

Kudos to the members in attendance and a very special Thank You to our international crew of student volunteers, Denise, Hera, Jana, Joao, Mary and their local coordinator, Joy, all of whom made the work so much easier and our day much livelier.

Board Meeting on April 22nd, 5:30 pm, @ the Boathouse in Sunday Park.

The officers of the club will be meeting at the Boathouse @ Sunday Park before the Full Moon Cruise. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm. We will be finalizing the calender for 2016 as well as providing updates on ongoing projects to modernize and expand the membership of the Brandermill (Woodlake) Sailing Club.

With the beginnings of broader involvement and engagement with the Woodlake Community Association in place, it is an exciting time to be a B(W)SC member! As always, club members are welcome to attend, participate and/or begin the Full Moon Cruise festivities a little early with a couple of drinks at the Boathouse.

Join BSC for a Full Moon Cruise on Friday April 22nd (RESCHEDULED!)

Our Full Moon Cruise has been rescheduled to April 22nd to more closely align with the heavens.

Come on down to the docks at Sunday Park at 7pm, April 22nd, for the club’s First Full Moon Cruise of the Season! There will be brews and snacks, compliments of the Club! We just need you to provide the good company and smack talk for this season’s upcoming races!

To reserve your seat, please RSVP to the Vice-Commodore MIguel Chueca @ vicecommodore@sailbrandermill.org.
